Simple Delights of Life
Mangoes, Carrots, Indian Gooseberries and Pineapples in Brine are the speciality of small “Gaadi” in Kerala. Just one look at them and I was floored. It was our favourite thing to munch on during our stay in Wayanad. I call them Simple Pleasures of Life… I am sending these pics to my dear friend Jyothsna of Curry Bazaar who is hosting this month's RCI-Kerala.

my my don't we all love those :) The mangoes and gooseberries never taste like those sold on the carts, I have never been able to recreate the taste. Maybe it is just the childhood experience itself. Take it easy! Don't work too hard :)

I remember eating the same when I was in Wayanad last year. I ate the pineapple slices (after a long arduous hike up a hill) and they were delicious along with the green chilli that they put in. Oh you have brought back memories of a great holiday

ReplyDeleteWas our favourite snack when i was at school. In the season all of us used to bting them the raw ones and the pickled ones.
We used to eat the raw ones with salt and then drink water as the water tasted so sweet then yummmy

Undu meaning pushable..Vandi meaning Gaadi or a vehicle :)
You reminded me of my schooldays when my maid used to catch me buying this and report to my mom. Gosh! I'd love to have some now. I'm all grown-up. So, no more restrictions.
