Learn how to make Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino or Strawberry Frappe | Strarbucks styled Strawberries and Creme Frappucciono recipe
It’s 1:15 in the afternoon as I watch the little angelic face so close to my face as we share our pillow. His head is nestled safely in the crook of my arms while his legs are tucked close to my body. The only noise I hear is the whirring sound of pedestal fan that is over working to keep us cool in this hot summer day. The two windows in our bedroom are wide open bringing in warm breeze, making the light coloured curtains flutter and flow.

I continue to watch this little sweet face that is so like the man I love and I try to find my features as I always do! His checks are flushed red as they always do when he is fast asleep and the bow like curve of his pink lips begs to be kissed! I do what they asked me to do... I plant a kiss on his cheek and lips and I wonder as I run my fingers through his silky dark brown hair, one feature that he has inherited from me or to be precise from my Amma. The cute little button nose he got from his paternal grandma is nothing like my sharp nose and neither is the fair complexion of his skin like his dad as I am blessed with dark milk chocolate skin colour. The dark long lashes fanning his cheeks remind of my baby brother and the big ears protruding out are something he inherited from my father.

I slowly remove Lil Dumpling’s hand wrapped around my neck and inspect the dimpled hands. They fit my small palms, bit too big for a boy who is just 3 years old and I worry it won’t be a long time before they grow bigger than mine! I turn his hands and inspect the fingers and nails. No, they are not like mine either! May be that nail in his little finger is just like mine or may be not! I slowly raise my head and lift his one feet resting on my hips and check his toes and feet! I sigh as I don’t see any resemblance to my own feet! This little person whom I gave birth to has none of my features! This little boy who grew in my womb sharing my flesh and blood, and matching his heart beats to mine has none of my features at all! Is that even a possibility?! I wonder...

I hear him mumble in his sleep as he calls my name and I tuck him closer to my body. His perfumed breaths tease my nose and I watch in amazement as Lil Dumpling smiles in his dream. Ah... He must be dreaming of chasing bumble bees in the garden or is it that blowing bubble that made him smile in his dream?! And then i see it! That smile... That sweet smile playing on his rosy lips! It looks so familiar... Yes, he did inherit my feature after all! He’s got my smile. A shy smile which makes his lips quiver and turn them like an arched bow. Yes... He’s got my smile. A sweet smile that makes his eyes glows like stars. Yes... He’s got my smile and laugh too... That makes our eyes crinkle and water as he hold on to our tummy laughing! Yes... He’s got my smile and laugh... That makes everyone laugh with us! I continue to gaze at this perfect little boy whom I carried for 9 months in my womb and say a little prayer of thank you!

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins
Recipe Level: Easy or Beginner
Spice Level: N/A
Serves: 3-4 people
Recipe Inspiration: Chef in You
Shelf Life: Best served fresh
Serving Suggestion: Chilled on hot summer days
Ingredients:
2 cups Strawberries (Around 12-15 strawberries)

2 cups Chilled Milk (I used semi-skimmed milk)
½ cup Fresh Cream
¼ - ½ cups Sugar (Adjust as per taste)
Whipped Cream (Optional. I didn’t use any)
Strawberry Frappuccino or Strawberry Frappe
Method:
- Wash and clean the strawberries and hull them. Slice them into halves and cut each halves into 2-3 equal pieces. Take 1/3rd of the strawberries and chop them to small pieces. Keep them aside until needed.
- Take 1/3rd of these strawberries and place them in a small pan. Cook these strawberries on medium flame without adding any water. The strawberries will start to release their juice in 2-3 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer till they become mushy, around 2 minutes. Switch off the gas and let it come to room temperature.
- Place these stewed strawberries in a blender or food processor and blend them to smooth puree. Once pureed, you can pass them through sieve to remove the seeds. I simply skipped it as we don’t mind the seeds.
- To this stewed strawberry syrup add the cream, sugar, 1/3rd of strawberries and ice cream and blend them well.
- To serve, divide chopped strawberries into 3-4 glasses and add 2-3 ice cubes. Pour in Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino or Strawberry Frappe and serve immediately. You can also add a scoop of vanilla or strawberry ice cream or whipped cream on top if needed before serving. Enjoy this fabulous thick and creamy summer goodness!

Sia’s Notes:
- You can skip stewing the strawberries if you are short of time and pureed the strawberries with other ingredients. The taste will vary but the drink will still taste good.
- Fill the glass halfway with Strawberry Frappe and add a tbsp of strawberry stew before filling the glass to top to give it a layered look.
- Puree all the strawberries if you do not like the pieces of strawberry coming to your mouth.
- You can also add a scoop of vanilla or strawberry ice cream or whipped cream on top if needed before serving.
- Substitute strawberries with other berries for equally delicious sips.
